Wild Iris Sunset
Wild Iris are a favourite flower of mine, I first came upon them when I was gifted several stems from my mother-in-law’s garden in 2020. Dietes Grandiflora or Large Wild Iris have large white petals characterised by markings of yellow and violet. As it’s not possible to paint white in watercolour, I decided to use my own artistic licence to help these blooms stand out. With a love for pattern and textile design, I was also playing with the idea of using stripes on the petals. I love their long leggy elegant stems!
